INTERNSHIPS

Are you detailed orientated, organized and love film? The Dallas Film Society offers ongoing (unpaid) internships each semester to college students seeking credit, knowledge and experience. All positions include researching, assisting staff, attending DFS events and, in the spring, working at the Dallas International Film Festival. Applicants must be at college level or higher.

SPRING SEMESTER INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Interested candidates should submit a resume and a short cover letter stating the position they are interested in, and detailing their skills, experience and desire to work for the Film Society to Renee Contreras at rcontreras@dallasfilm.org or fax to 214.720.0551.

MEMBERSHIP INTERN

  • Needs to be highly detail orientated and organized
  • Good Excel and Word skills with access to Microsoft Office
  • Skilled using Adobe Illustrator to create membership calendar and cards
  • Create invitations to members-only screenings
  • Manage RSVPs for members-only screenings
  • Manage and organize new memberships (create welcome letters and database)
  • Needs to be available to work event screenings on some evenings
  • Must have great communication and verbal skills
  • We are looking for someone who has a positive attitude, outgoing, customer service orientated and personable

EDUCATION & OUTREACH INTERN

  • Needs to be highly detail orientated and organized
  • Updating Educational databases for the upcoming school year
  • Assist and help coordinate DIFF High School Day
  • Needs to be available to work event screenings and High School Roundtables
  • Must have great communication and verbal skills
  • Good Excel and Word skills with access to Microsoft Office
  • Skilled using Adobe Illustrator and knowledge of InDesign/Photoshop
  • We are looking for someone who has a positive attitude, outgoing, customer service orientated and personable

PRESS & PUBLICITY INTERN
We are looking for an intern in the Dallas area to assist the Levenson PR team with publicity efforts for the Dallas Film Society including the Dallas International Film Festival and the Summer Film Camp. Internship may also require assisting with other Levenson clients within the restaurant, spirits and hospitality industry.

Description:

  • Update monthly coverage reports
  • Research including creating and updating press lists, searching for Dallas Film Society press coverage and identifying readership information
  • Assist with filmmaker and press scheduling
  • Provide on-site support during the Dallas International Film Festival including the press check-in desk and red carpets
  • Assist with raising awareness of the Dallas Film Society events and activities
  • Assist with other Levenson clients

Qualifications:

  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must have 3.0 grade point average
  • Must have a professional appearance
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work during normal business hours in Levenson office and assist with evening and weekend events during the Dallas International Film Festival. Minimum weekly requirement is 15 hours.
  • Internship is unpaid and must be in exchange for school credit

We would like the Dallas Film Society/Levenson intern to work through the end of spring semester.
PLEASE NOTE: SOME NIGHT AND WEEKEND WORK MAY BE REQUIRED.

MARKETING INTERN

  • Needs to be highly detail orientated and organized
  • Good Excel and Word skills with access to Microsoft Office
  • Skilled using Adobe Illustrator and/or In-Design
  • Assist with communication to media sponsors
  • Manage and organize media contracts
  • Needs to be available to assist in picking up signage from printers and delivering
  • Must have great communication and verbal skills
  • We are looking for someone who has a positive attitude, willing to work hard, outgoing, customer service orientated and personable
  • In return, you’ll get tons of “real life” experience…the down and dirty!

Programming Intern
Description:

  • Support department during submission and call for entry process
  • Research films, programs, film schools, filmmakers, and other film festivals
  • Create reports based on research
  • Track and organize film submissions and materials as directed
  • Screen and review submissions
  • Burn and ship DVDs as needed
  • Write and edit DIFF letters
  • Assist other DIFF departments as needed and directed by Programming Department
  • Assist DFS at various year-round screenings and events as directed

Qualifications:

  • Computer savvy, including knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge of basic office etiquette.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Flexible schedule.
  • Candidates must be proactive and detailed oriented.
  • Strong interest in learning about films, the film industry, and film festivals.
  • Working towards degree in film preferred, but not required.
