The DFS High School Roundtable program meets bi-monthly to offer students hands-on experience into what goes on in the film industry. Students are able to visit production and music facilities, live sets, and companies that are associated with film and video production.
Places such as the Nasher Sculpture Center, Reel FX Entertainment and the actual production set of Dallas are all production and exhibition centers that have hosted this event. On the production set of Dallas, many students got to ask questions and interact with different people in the film industry. Students had the opportunity to meet well-known producer Ken Topolsky.
The Dallas Film Society hosts the Dallas International Film Festival every year, and students who came to the “How to Fest” at the Nasher Sculpture Center received insight into all the upcoming films featured at the the film festival before they were even presented. High School Roundtable is a great, laid-back, fun event that gives students a chance to really explore the world behind the camera and to see for themselves the magic of moviemaking.
“Cinema is a matter of what’s in the frame and what’s out.” – Martin Scorsese
