  • September 13th: at Booker T. Washington High School
  • November 16th: Reel FX Entertainment
  • January 17th: TBA
  • March 20th: “How to Fest” in the Dallas Arts District

Other Important Dates

  • April 12-22, 2012: Dallas International Film Festival
  • April 13th: 2012 DIFF High School Day in the Arts District

The DFS High School Roundtable program meets bi-monthly to offer students hands-on experience into what goes on in the film industry. Students are able to visit production and music facilities, live sets, and companies that are associated with film and video production.

Places such as the Nasher Sculpture Center, the Studios of Las Colinas, and MPS Studios are all production and exhibition centers that have hosted this event. At the Studios of Las Colinas, many students got to ask questions and interact with different people in the film industry. Students have the opportunity to meet with commercial and TV executives, makeup artists, actors, post-production editors, etc.

The Dallas Film Society hosts the DALLAS International Film Festival every year, and students who came to the “How to Fest” at the Nasher Sculpture Center received insight into all the upcoming films featured at the the film festival before they were even presented. High School Roundtable is a great, laid-back, fun event that gives students a chance to really explore the world behind the camera and to see for themselves the magic of moviemaking.

“Film as dream, film as music. No art passes our conscience in the way film does, and goes directly to our feelings, deep down into the dark rooms of our souls.” – Ingmar Bergman
