DALLAS FILM SOCIETY ANNOUNCES MAJOR PROGRESS IN ACHIEVING DEVELOPMENT GOALS

Posted on by

DALLAS — August 23, 2011: DALLAS Film Society board chairman Lynn McBee has announced she has secured four major donations from Dallas-based foundations and philanthropists to help fund year-round operating costs for the DALLAS Film Society, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that celebrates films and their impact on society. McBee made the announcement to the Board of Directors and staff at a private reception at DUO on Monday evening.

“When I took over the role of chairman of the DALLAS Film Society, my goal was to raise money which would directly impact operations,” said McBee. “One month into the new fiscal year, we have achieved significant success in this area. There is still work to be done, but I am thrilled with the results so far.”

The Michael D. Cain Chair of Artistic Direction has been established and funded by Trammell S. Crow for a 3-year period. This will cover the salary and benefits of Artistic Director James Faust from 2011-2014.

The Tanya Foster Reel of Executive Direction has been established and funded by an anonymous donor for a one-year period. This will cover the salary and benefits for President and CEO Tanya Foster for 2011-2012.

Additional grants from The McDermott Foundation and the Vin and Caren Prothro Foundation have been received for unrestricted operating, which marks a major coup, says McBee, as it will be the first time that these foundations have financially acknowledged their support of the important work undertaken by the Film Society.

“Through the public support of Trammell S. Crow, The McDermott Foundation and the Vin and Caren Prothro Foundation, we have received a wonderful vote of confidence from leading Dallas arts supporters,” continues McBee. “As we enter into the next phase of our fundraising efforts, I am energized with the response I am getting from our community. Combining that with the passion of the staff and the extraordinary Board of Directors we have assimilated in the last few months, I feel buoyant that we can exceed all expectations and take the Film Society to the international platform on which it deserves to be.”
